Network Security Engineer
Position Overview
Protecting the organization’s network infrastructure by implementing and maintaining security measures that ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information. Your expertise in network security tools and principles will be crucial in defending against and responding to cyber threats.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain network security solutions to protect enterprise environments from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Manage and configure network security tools, including firewalls (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet), IDS/IPS, VPNs, and SIEM systems to monitor and secure network traffic.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities within the network and develop strategies for remediation.
- Collaborate with IT teams to secure routers, switches, and wireless networking environments, ensuring robust security configurations are enforced.
- Monitor network traffic for suspicious activity and respond to security incidents, performing thorough analyses and documentation of breaches or threats.
- Stay updated on emerging threats and advancements in network security technologies to proactively enhance security measures.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Network Security, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A strong foundation in networking and security principles is essential.
- Proficiency with network security tools such as firewalls (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet), IDS/IPS, VPNs, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems.
- Experience with routers, switches, and wireless networking, including the ability to secure wireless networks effectively.
- Typically, 3-7 years of experience in network security or related roles, with hands-on experience in securing enterprise networks.
